Croydon Whitgift Partnership – Westfield & Hammerson CPO

In 2015 Graham Chase appeared again for the Whitgift Partnership (In administration) at the second CPO Inquiry for the redevelopment of Croydon town centre with Westfield and Hammerson as the Joint Venture developers and long-term investors. His objections were based on issues of deliverability and viability. The SofS approved the Order but some 3 years later the scheme has not commenced, various amendments have been made and Westfield have now sold out their UK holdings. Although John Lewis have been signed as the anchor tenant, Graham is unaware of any further commitment to undertake this project. There is, however, the potential to proceed now that JLP have been secured and the mix of users has been significantly changed including a greater content of offices and residential facilities, as recommended as more appropriate by Graham.
